Dedicated to youth and community service

about us

The Northwest Louisiana Education Leadership and Training Foundation (N.E.L.T.) prepares students ages 13 to 18 for educational, occupational, and social guidance. It was founded as a result of the direct need for mentorship in the Caddo/Bossier Parish Public/Private School System. Dedicated to youth and community service, N.E.L.T. promotes cultural diversity, provides extensive instruction that encompasses students holistic development, and seeks partnership with local government agencies and educational institutions. The N.E.L.T. Foundation provides guidance in students with a strong class focus on character, personality, socialization skills, leadership skills, career readiness, and dining etiquette.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is

"To Help Our Youth Prepare For, Gain Acceptance To, and Graduate From College."

Our work is having a positive impact on our students.

Our goals

The N.E.L.T. Foundation provides both challenging and rewarding experiences to enhance students' lives. Our goals for the students are:

1. To earn their High School diploma, matriculate through a 4-year college or university and obtain a bachelor's degree.

2. To create a new generation of dynamic, influential and inspirational young leaders who will positively impact local communities nationally and globally.

3. To be peer-mentors in creating an environment of positive change through academics, community service and leadership programs

In nine years, the N.E.L.T Foundation has assisted 318 participants and retained 93%.  We serve groups from 6th-12th grade and have had 154 participants graduate from high school.  Thirty-two young men have pursued careers in the Armed Services, and 121 young men have matriculated to colleges/universities and have received over $266,500 in scholarships.
